Mean Scoil Mhuire in Longford

Mean Scoil Mhuire is Longford’s only all girls’ secondary school based in the centre of Longford town. The school has a population in excess of 500 girls and 40 staff. It is a Mercy school educating the young ladies of Longford in the Mercy tradition. It was founded in 1861 and the trustees of our school are CEIST who provide us with a set of core values which support and nourish the lives of the members of the school community.

These values are:

•Promoting spiritual and human development

•Achieving quality in teaching and learning

•Showing respect for every person

•Being just and responsible.

Although the school ethos is Catholic we welcome students of all religions and none. Academic success of our past pupils is evident throughout the many universities in Ireland. In fact the majority of our students proceed to university after their Leaving Certificate.

Aside from our academic success, Mean Scoil Mhuire has a long standing tradition of sporting excellence. Furthermore, our students learn how to become active members of the wider community.
